WHAT IMPANDE DOES
Good Quality Early Learning Starts With the Building Itself
Impande supports grassroots Early Childhood Development (ECD) for children of the ages of 0 to 5. The focus is on children in the most marginalised and poorest communities in South Africa, to succeed, these children from poor households need additional support in their development and readiness to learn.
Impande’s mission is to provide good quality early learning services. It improves access to classrooms and the related infrastructure, and also provide resources, including meals for the children.
“We will only see an equal tomorrow when children are given a fair start in life.”

General Donation
Choose your
own amount
Not tied to one project, Sawabona Africa allocates your gift to whichever of Impande’s three needs is most pressing at the time: sanitation, a classroom build, or an infrastructure upgrade. It does not go to Impande as a general fund; it’s always applied to one of the three projects above.
Questions about supporting Impande
Specific to this project
How is a site chosen for a new preschool or upgrade?
Impande follows a needs assessment and a thorough review process before selecting a site, this isn’t first-come, first-served.
Why does this project use local, Black-owned businesses for construction?
It’s a deliberate part of the model, every build creates economic impact in the community alongside the physical facility, not just a finished building.
Can I give a general donation instead of choosing sanitation, a classroom, or fencing?
Yes, a General Donation is allocated by Sawabona Africa to whichever of the three infrastructure needs is most pressing at the time. It always goes to one of the three projects above, not to Impande as an unrestricted donation.
How do I pay?
Monthly, quarterly, annually or once-off, whichever suits you. Monthly, or annually, whichever suits you. In Germany we can set up a SEPA Mandate on your account, or your can set up a recurring donation via EFT.
